Wonderful Book Donated to the Library!

Third grader Alyssa Griffin donated the book, Big Nate-In a Class by Himself by Lincoln Peirce to the Gilmer Elementary School library.  This book will be available for check-out next week.  Thank you for your generosity, Alyssa!


Excited about Biographies that Celebrate Diversity!

Two fabulous first grade classes visited the library this morning.  Many students left with biographies of athletes, inventors, and famous African Americans.  The students love learning about people with various talents and careers!  Pictured below are some sweet students after checking out a biography.

Fantastic NEW Book!

Jacie Davis from Mrs. Loden's class enjoyed one of our newest library books.  Mrs. Loden's students read Michael Anthony Steele's book, Fix That Truck!  Please stop by the library to check this great story out!

Girl's Buckeye Book Club Meets TODAY!

Connor Castro and Sophia Dean are pleased to introduce to you one of our newest library books.  Boz's Pumpkin Party by Michael Anthony Steele is a fun-filled book about a very popular bear.  Stop by the library and check it out!




Books to Celebrate DIVERSITY!

Stop by the library to view some awesome books that celebrate diversity.  Throughout the library there are several displays that offer biographies about athletes, authors, great thinkers, people with perseverance, leaders, musicians, men, and women.  In celebration of Black History Month, we also have a special section of biographies about famous African Americans.  The students have checked out these books in amazing numbers!  Pictured below are some of Mrs. Verzosa's first grade students after finding their "just right" book.

No Buckeye Book Club Tomorrow Afternoon!

Fourth Grade Students Chosen to Attend Author Lunch!

Nine fourth grade students have been chosen to attend a very special Author Lunch on February 13th.  While enjoying lunch, these students will have the opportunity to share their favorite writing piece with our guest author, Michael Anthony Steele.  Children were chosen by their Language Arts teacher based on their hard work and positive attitude in writing.  I am very proud of these students!

New Book in the Library!


PreK students Tyler and Hudson enjoyed one of our library's newest books yesterday.  Mrs. Smith's class was the first to check out The Chugger Championship by Michael Anthony Steele.  They loved hearing an exciting story about some of their favorite characters!

Author Visit-February 13th

Gilmer Elementary School will have an author visit on February 13th.  Michael Anthony Steele will give our students three presentations and even eat lunch with nine fourth grade students.  This author has written numerous books, and our students have enjoyed  reading them during their library time.  Please check out this amazing author's website to learn more about his books!
